Founded in 1924, the Redlands Bowl is located in Smiley Park and is part of the Smiley Historic District. It is home to numerous community events including concerts, choirs, musicals and the Summer Music Festival. The Lincoln Memorial Shrine hosts a number of exhibits, which gives residents the opportunity to get acquainted with their community’s rich history. The Kimberley Crest House and Gardens was built in 1897 and is now a California Registered Historical Landmark. This fairytale-like French Chateau is perfectly situated overlooking Redlands and the lovely San Bernardino Valley. The Santa Fe Station is located in downtown Redlands. The depot design, Grecian columns and romantic portico are reminiscent of a classic era.
The Redlands Bicycle Classic is one of the best-known special events in the region. This world-renowned event allows competitors from all over the world to ride a grueling course outlined throughout the entire city of Redlands. Along with an enduring workout, the competitors get to see some of the most spectacular Victorian homes ever built in the country. This town is inundated with architectural wonders from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This perfect balance of old culture and new renovation gives Redlands that magic feel of the past that even draws moviemakers to shoot on location in the community.
The San Bernardino County Museum in Redlands is a regional museum with exhibits and collections in cultural and natural history. Founded in 1952, the museum showcases unique exhibits, the Exploration Station live animal discovery center, extensive research collections, and public programs for adults, families, students, and children alike.
Served by the Redlands Unified School District, local students have access to some of the finest educational resources in the state. Post-secondary education can be pursued at the local Crafton Hills College or the renowned University of Redlands, which offers a wide variety of courses and activities for every education level. The University of California, Riverside is also only a short drive away.
